What is Biotin and why are so many women taking it?

 

            We all want glowing skin, strong nails, and long luscious hair. DUH! But, how can we achieve it?

Myself, and what feels like every other woman in the world is asking one another and ourselves if Biotin is the answer?

            I say YES! Biotin can be a great option for women who wish to speed up and increase their potential hair growth.

            Biotin supplements have been steadily increasing in popularity over the past years and it isn’t hard to believe why. Before-and-after pictures of substantial hair growth are visual proof of why we all should be running to our local pharmacies and grabbing bottles by the dozens.

But wait… before we actually do that, what exactly is Biotin again?

Well, it’s an H vitamin and is part of the B complex group. Moreover, it’s a coenzyme in fatty acid production, basically a magic hair growth pill.

            As a result of Biotin, women are achieving exponential hair growth and there are numerous options on the market for us ladies to choose from.

            I want to highlight my opinion on a few popular brands based on my own experiences. This is in hopes that my experiences could be of some value and insight to you and you girls can make a well-informed decision, using not only my review but a collection of other reviews as well.

            First up is Hair Infinity. So I heard about the product from a few friends, and though many did in fact experience drastic positive changes in hair growth, my friends were also experiencing negative results when it came to their skin. My friend Chelsea was developing cystic acne, and found that for her, the health of her skin was not worth sacrificing in exchange for faster hair growth.

            Being a recovering acne sufferer (p.s. we hate you acne scars), I was not quick to try the product. Other’s who have used the product before me said that if I drank a substantial amount of water I should be fine. I don’t know if this is true, but if you decide to use this product, it might not hurt to up your water intake.

            My mom happen to buy the product on her own accord, while I was still contemplating whether or not I wanted to try it, and because it was now in the house and readily available to me I started to take the pills.

I did not experience changes in my skin (which is what I was most fearful of), but I must also say that I only used the product for about a month. Also, I was not taking the pills on a consistent daily basis.

For those of you who do not share concerns about acne, I still don’t think the product is worth it because there weren’t any significant changes in the health of my hair. For me, it seemed to remain the same. When I spoke to others about the lack of advancements in my hair journey, they also expressed similar disappoints. Additionally, many found that even if they were growing hair at a faster rate than pre supplement consumption, it was not healthy, but thin and fragile.

Next in line is Hair, Skin, and Nails. The name of the product is supposed to give lead to the effects of Biotin on a buyers hair, skin, and nail health, however I only saw positive changes in two out of three of these components. Unfortunately, keeping in mind that hair growth was my priority, I did not see substantial results in the overall health and length of my hair.

My skin (again, I sympathize with those of you with acne prone skin) was doing really well at the time, so if you are looking for Biotin in an effort to improve the health of your skin, and have smaller concerns and goals around hair growth, this may be a good option for you.

Also, if you are looking to improve the strength of your nails, this again may be a good choice because my nails were hard as a rock!

Lastly, and of course, third times the charm is Mane Choice. The results are practically instant. Hair is not only longer, but it is also thicker.

The speed of growth is shocking and thus far I have not experienced any negative side affects from the supplement.

So, that’s my review on the three brands I have tried. I do advise, that you keep in mind that people react to products differently and my experiences may not be an accurate reflection of what you may experience.

I furthermore do not know what makes each brand different and I can only evaluate how my body has reacted to each product.

For those of you who are not quick to take pills, there are definitely steps that you can take to increase hair growth.

Supplement pills are just capsulated versions of the vitamins we can attain via the foods we eat. So, if you rather take a more natural approach here are some food options you can in cooperate into your diet that are high in Biotin:

 

  1. Eggs
  2. Nuts
  3. Vegetables
  4. Milk
  5. Fruits

 

           The overall appearance and health of our hair, skin, and nails, is a reflection of what is going on insides our bodies and if you’re living a healthy life style, supplements or not, the results will show.

            Personally, I like the effect of Biotin, but it is a choice that each of you can make based on what fits your personal needs and lifestyle best.
